Meet the beautiful little Miss Emmeline.
I am in love with this session and if I were to one day be blessed with a little girl I would want her session to look something like this. Totally stole my heart.
Not long after our session this dear little girl was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, a chronic liver disease that affects 1 in every 15,000-20,000 infants in Australia. It is a life threatening disease that is the most common reason for liver transplants in children.
Emmeline has already undergone surgery in the form of a Kasai procedure, at this point it’s unknown if this has worked, however this procedure is not usually curative, but ideally does buy time until Emmeline can achieve growth and undergo liver transplantation, as you can imagine this has flipped her parents world upside down. Talking with Emmeline’s mummy today I couldn’t help but admire her strength, courage and positivity surrounding her dear baby girl and the future and what it means for her family.
I would love to take this opportunity to express the importance of donating organs and encourage you to register on the Australian Organ Donor Register, or at the very least discuss with your family your intentions. Donate life.
You can also indicate that you are a registered organ and tissue donor on your Facebook Timeline, this is one of the best ways to let your family and friends know your intentions as well as spread awareness to your fellow facebookers.
To do this:
- Go to your Facebook Timeline, look for the box that says “what’s on your mind?”
- Click on “Life Event” (above where you would type a status)
- Select “Health and Wellness” and choose “organ donor”
Please enjoy these gorgeous images of sweet little Emmeline, feel free to comment below with messages of love and support for her family, goodness knows every bit of love and positivity sent their way will give them strength.
